The key theme in Nautae is the mythical quest, a narrative structure that is as much part of universal cultural references as of the stark immediacy of contemporary dramas. The textual material of the play is also heterogeneous: a subjective and fantastic story by the main character embraces some of the hexameters of one of the lost tragedies of Greek playwright Aeschylus, bringing new sense to them within a renewed storyline context.
