Flying Pigs
INFORMATION
Flying Pigs is a contemporary dance and live music show. It features three dancers, a musician and three actors-singers on stage. Thorugh the image of pig slaughtering in Mallorca, we take a journey around Catharsis. We delve into the chaos of material to bring the senses to life in the search for an ephemeral moment of beauty and pleasure.
The places that inspire the vitality of the work emerge from references – folkloric, sacred and artistic – derived from the colective imagination, such as festivals, concerts and discotheques, family gatherings, religious celebrations, traditions such as Mallorcan pig slaughtering and works of art like the Sistine Chapel. Depending on one’s individual experience, in Flying Pigs these references are juxtaposed in a dreamlike manner to allow new images to be admitted, thus creating an interplay of poetic transferrals of images, sounds and concepts that unite to culminate in the cathartic act of delivering an audience an emotional explosion..
