Els Nikolaidis
INFORMATION
In the 18th century, the expansionist ambitions of the great European powers set their sights on the island of Menorca. The Nikolaidisés is the story of a family of Greek sailors and merchants who moved to Maó attracted by the protectionist measures of the British government. With patience, tenacity and ambition, they managed to survive the island's turbulent political life and penetrate the exclusive world of an increasingly powerful commercial bourgeoisie, until they reached the top of the economic, social and political fabric of the city of Maó. Taking advantage of the fact that the city was at the height of its European vocation, the Nikolaids, over two generations, crossed the Mediterranean from one end to the other, as pirates or legal traders, and created companies, became bankers and discovered the value of politics to transform society in accordance with their interests.
