Maria Antònia Oliver
Amor de cans
INFORMATION
Maria Antònia Oliver narrates the confrontation and the decomposition of a Mallorcan family of several sisters, the Gamundines. A story full of meanness and misery. The novel exhibits a clear mastery of linguistic registers and popular expressions, a rich presentation of situations and characters and an indisputable poetic tone, especially regarding the personality of one of the sisters, Àngela, the madwoman, who becomes the conscience of the family. Amor de cans (love of dogs) evolves towards a final climax where the novel takes on an important symbolic value, given that the story of the Gamundines means not only the uprooting of the characters, but also that of a large part of Mallorcan society.
