This is the story of Alfonso XIII -the paternal grandfather of the current king of Spain-, who considered himself a statesman but ignored the emerging social forces, decapitated the civilised right, marginalised integrating Catalanism and, in the absence of his constitutional oath and giving way to the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, the crown was happily wagered: in April 1931, as a consequence of simple municipal elections that acquired the character of a plebiscite, he was expelled from Spain and died in exile.
