Born in Palma (1952). He is the author of essay books, biographies, poetry books and novels. He has made radio programmes and directed writing workshops. He has a degree from the University of Barcelona. He has worked as a psychologist in Palma.
He collaborates in the Mallorcan press, from the tribune of the newspaper Última Hora. He has dedicated a biography to the writer Jaume Santandreu. He has published the essay Manual per protegir-se de mestres i educadors (1997). In poetry, the books Com la sequera and Porta trencada stand out. With Rèquiem, she had the collaboration of the composer Mercè Pons, author of a CD with music inspired by Gayà's sonnets. Among the novels, Trenc d'Alba won the Roc Boronat Prize (1999), Círculo enigmático won the Alexandre Ballester Prize (2005) and La vida perdurable de Salvador Duran won the Mollerussa Prize (2006).
In his latest novel, El tall de les tisores (2016), Gayà portrays the narrator's mother with short chapters, full of confessions and small surprises.
