Vicente Valero

Poet, essayist, translator and art critic. He made his debut with the poetry book 'Jardín de la noche' (1986, El Serbal). He was finalist of the Adonais Prize with Herencia y fabula (1989, Rialp). He won the Loewe International Prize for Young Creation with Teoría Solar (1992, Visor). Ho got the same award in 2007, in the absolute category, with Días del bosque (2008, Visor). He published Vigilia en Cabo Sur (1999, Tusquets), Libro de los trazados (2005, Tusquets) and Canción del distraído (2015, Vaso Roto Ediciones). His poems have been translated into Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, Czech, Portuguese, Flemish, German, Serbo-Croatian, Catalan and Finnish.

As a narrator, he wrote La poesía de Juan Ramón Jiménez (1988, Andros), Experiencia y pobreza. Walter Benjamin en Ibiza, 1932-1933 (2001, Editorial Península), Viajeros contemporáneos. Ibiza, siglo XX (2004, Pre-Textos), Los extraños (2014, Peripheral), El arte de la fuga (2015, Periférica), Las transiciones (2016, Periférica) and Duelo de alfiles (2018, Periférica).

He has participated in exhibitions, some of which he has curated. He collaborates in the press as a cultural journalist and literary critic. He has written texts on contemporary art. He has given numerous talks in Spain and Germany.
