Pere Capellà Simó
- (Palma, 1981)
I'm interested in the representation of memory. And drawing is the language that most helps me to make my absences visible. Certain stories from a referential past allowed me to devise two first exhibition projects which, respectively, I entitled with verses by Vicent Andrés Estellés -Llençols Estesos als balcons- and Maria Mercè Marçal -La fira dels folls-. Both were exhibited in Capellades, Felanitx, Manacor, Alaró and Binissalem between 2004 and 2009. Over time, I have become a historian. And I have explored, thanks to this craft, a new way of imagining. I have discovered the mystery of old toys and, at the same time, the privilege of teaching. I still paint because painting is a beautiful way of learning. In 2012, I became interested in portraits. Two years later, I began to paint them by heart, initiating a process that has led me to synthesism, to flat painting. Nowadays, I solve portraits with an ancient technique: tempera. I also illustrate books, in a punctual way.
