Orquestra de Joves Intèrprets dels Països Catalans
The Orquestra de Joves Intèrprets dels Països Catalans (OJIPC) was created in Mallorca in 2004, promoted by Forum Musicae. Centre for the dynamisation of musical education in the Balearic Islands, with the initiative of Magdalena González. The orchestra is composed of young people between the ages of 18 and 26 from the different Catalan-speaking territories.
It was officially presented in 2004, within the framework of the Forum of Cultures of Barcelona. In 2009, the Cor Jove dels Països Catalans was founded.
The OJIPC has received several prizes, such as Jaume I de la Franja, in 2006, and Caixa de Sabadell Award and Josep Maria Llompart Award, in 2009.
One of the fundamental tasks of the orchestra has been to recover and protect the musical heritage. In this sense, works by numerous authors have been recorded, such as Manuel Palau, Enric Morera, Eduard Toldrà, Pau Casals, Matilde Salvador, Jaume Pahissa, Joaquim Serra, Baltasar Samper, Jaume Mas Porcel and Jaume Pahissa, among others. Recovered scores by composers Enric Morera, Jaume Pahissa and Jaume Mas Porcel have also been published.
The OJIPC has performed several times in Prada, within the framework of the Universitat Catalana d'Estiu, as well as in Lisbon, Mallorca, Ripoll, Sant Miquel de Cuixà, Maó, Perpignan, Alicante, Ibiza, Mallorca, Manresa and at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.
Salvador Brotons has been the titular director of the OJIPC. The first director of the Cor was Esteve Nabona. Since 2018, the Cor has resumed its activity under the orders of the Valencian Francisco Valldecabres.
