Marta Elka is a composer, singer and violinist, well-known in the Mallorcan music scene, who offers in her live act swing versions of original songs, with a touch of folk, jazz manouche, blues or any style that the song requires.
She got on stage for the first time when she was only nine years old with the Mallorcan folk music band Xaloc, with whom she continues playing today. She has four CDs recorded: Moments (2005), Cançonetes de Nadal (2007), Que plogui (2010) i Quartet de coses (2014). As well as her own songs, she also perfoms a good number of cover versions in Catalan of artists like The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Guillem d'Efak or Roberta Flack, among others.
She also collaborates with other artists on the music scene of the island, for example Jaume Anglada, in his work Tempo sinfónico, or Manual Inacabat, by Joan Martorell, with whom she has worked in a book and CD + DVD with poems by Guillem d'Efak, among many others. She often works with choreographer Carlos Miró, with whom Elka revisits themes by Moustaki, Serrat and Raimon. She has collaborated in Cris Juanico's latest Christmas carols CD, and has offered concerts with Juanico at the Auditorium of Barcelona and the theater of Petra. She has worked in the tribute to the poet Joan Pau Giné concert and the concert at the Palau dels Reis de Mallorca in Perpignan, in June 2014.
