Marià Villangómez is probably the most important poet Ibiza has ever produced. His work represents perfectly the will of being faithful to the own land and the classical motifs of folklore but without being folkloric thanks above all to a luminous and introspective consciousness of the act of writing. Cultivated and of exquisite sensitivity, Villangómez offers a vision of his island in which the past is transformed trough memory into the touchstone of individual and collective consciousness. In his verses, Mediterranean nature acquires a rare density without renouncing to its inviting clearness. Here is an essential poet.
