Maria Rosselló i Els Botifanfarrons
- (2007)
- Genre: Jazz , World music
Maria Rosslló i els Botifanfarrons is a group integrated by voice, wind instruments -trumpet, trombone, tuba, clarinet and saxophone- and electric guitar, although it has not always been the case. In their first rehearsal in spring of 2007, the group was integrated by a trumpet, a trombone, an euphonium, and a clarinet. A couple of months later, on the day of their first concert (in autumn of the same year), two more saxophones, two percussionists and one tuba had joined the group. This was their first stage, when they played their music around the streets of the different villages of Majorca, and playing instrumental versions of several styles. In the year 2010 an actor joined their group and, with him, they prepared two shows (also to be performed in the street) with which they started their tour around Majorca, Minorca, the Basque Country, Catalonia and Valencia.
This is the the group's second stage, a moment when they feel the need of creating their own arrangements. Since 2012, as a result of several collaborations in theatres, their singer and their guitarist joined them. For the first time they reflect about the chance of starting a new epoch in which they play their music on stage. This is also the moment when they record their first CD with original songs. The group could be described as playing music of several styles, and with an unsual integration: voice, electric guitar, wind instruments and drums.
