Marco Mezquida

Born in Menorca in 1987, he graduated from ESMUC in 2009 and since then he has recorded more than twenty albums as a leader or co-leader, and more than forty as a sideman or collaborator on numerous projects. His vertiginous concert activity has led him to perform in important auditoriums and venues in thirty-seven countries. His performances stand out at the jazz festivals of Tokyo, London, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong Arts Festival, San Sebastián Jazzaldia, Kölner Philharmonie, Belgrade Jazz, Jazz na Fabrica de Sao Paulo, Elb Philharmonie of Hamburg, Konzerthaus of Vienna, Palau de la Música Catalana, Parco della Musica in Rome, Café des Arts in Paris, National Auditorium in Madrid, National Theater in Sarajevo, Algerian Opera, Peralada Castle, Blue Note in New York, San Francisco, Unterfarht in Munich, Bimhuis from Amsterdam, Moods from Zurich, BMC from Budapest, Montmartre from Copenhagen…)
He has performed and/or recorded alongside great figures, jazz legends, such as Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Carme Canela, Elliot Zigmund, Perico Sambeat... Among his projects as a leader are his projects Talismán and Ravel's dreams, his connection with the great guitarist flamenco in the Chicuelo & Marco Mezquida project, producing two celebrated albums Con Conexión and No hay dos sin tres, his Beethoven Collage project, his MAP trios and the Danish Pieris trio, his acclaimed duo with the singer Silvia Pérez Cruz or the tandem with the dancer Sol Picó, in addition to his acclaimed solo piano concerts, in which he enhances his creative freedom as an improviser and composer, evidencing his passion for music as evidenced by his five solo piano albums published between 2013 and 2020.
He has composed and recorded the music for various theatrical productions, two of them for the Teatre Lliure: El curiós cas del gos a mitjanit in 2015, (E.V.A.) for the T de Teatre company, both successful and award-winning productions directed by Julio Manrique; and another for the Festivla Grec (El Combat del Segle). He has also recorded several music programs for television, including Jazz a l' estudi and Efecte Collins. He has performed as a solo pianist with various classical orchestras and jazz big bands: Balearic Symphony Orchestra, Vallès Orchestra, etc. A dozen awards mark his brilliant musical career: Alicia Award 2021 for Talismán, 4 Enderrock awards for best album of the year, Ciutat de Barcelona Award 2019 for his album No hay dos sin tres, Altaveu Award 2015, Musician of the Year 4 times for the AMJM of Catalonia, Menorquin of the year 2018.
