La Xaranga del Xubec was born in 2010, the result of a wonderful chance, joining several friends-musicians to make a small and modest gift to a wedding of some friends in common. We enjoyed it very much and were likedm so we have continued to this day. Since 2010 the band has changed its formation, since originally it only had one wind instrument. Now it features bass, snare drum, bass drum and other percussion, electric guitar, violin, trumpet and saxophone. With these instruments we perform an eclectic repertoire, ranging from New Orleans jazz, with lots of swing, music from the Balkans, klezmer, and even music that takes you back under a circus tent. Our ensemble can play passacaglia music, as well as in small venues and large stages. What characterizes la Xaranga del Xubec is the humor of our show, which makes the audience being always immersed in the magic of the music.

Performances:
During these five years, la Xaranga del Xubec has performed in all the villages of Menorca, whether in the form of parades, stage or entertainment. We have participated in the carnival of Vilanova, invited by a local troupe. We have also participated in the festivities in Banyoles, both at the concert hall and in a couple of parades. We opened last year's MÈDIT film festival achieving a great succes both with the audience and the organizers. We have participated in several editions of Menorca Jazz (the International Menorca Jazz Festival, which this year reaches its eighteenth edition). La Charanga del Xubec has written a part of the soundtrack for the film La Isla Bonita by Fernando Colomo. Charanga also made a "cameo" in the film. La Xaranga del Xubec has released two self-produced and self-published albums, Putum and Hey.
