JULIAN VAUGHN
Born and raised in St Louis, Missouri (USA), Julian is the only musician in his family. To grow up in a city of great musicians had a great influence on him. As a kid, he spent a lot of time beating rhythms on anything he could find, including his mother's pots and pans. When he was twelve, his mother bought him his first drums and registered him in the city music school. At the age of fifteen, he began to gain recognition in the local clubs. When he was seventeen he was called by an old friend, a musician who played with Albert King and who invited Julian to join the tour as a drummer. After some years playing to the audience from all around the world, Julian received the call of the mythical B.B. King, who asked him to be his substitute and to join him in a long year of touring. Later on, Julian joined the band of Ron Levy, who coincidentally was the former pianist of B.B. King and Albert King. He didn't know it yet, but to join the band led Julian to discover Boston, the city of both the greatest music schools and music professors. There, Julian studied with Alan Dawson, who taught other great drum players as Tony Williams and Harvey Manson, among others. Julian has recorded lots of his own compositions along with his jazz quartet and quintet, although the songs were never released until the moment when Jordi Pujol, founder of Fresh Sound Records, associated with him and materialized the project.
