He settled in Mallorca in 1945. He documented the arrival of mass tourism in Mallorca, opened almost twenty photography shops and founded a company dedicated to tourist postcards. He founded Casa Planas in 1947. He was the first owner of a helicopter on the island, which he used to immortalize the Majorcan coastline, images that have become the witness to the transformation of a territory. He was the photographer of urban growth. He introduced the idea of industrial photography. His work connects with that of the photographers who renewed the international scene, with their documentary vision, during the post-war period.
He portrayed the great film stars of the time who passed through Mallorca, such as Chaplin, Errol Flynn, Joan Fontaine and Grace Kelly, and universal cultural figures such as Joan Miró, Blai Bonet and Camilo José Cela. He made cinematographic films and reports.
He published some of his photographs in various media, such as La Vanguardia, Sierra de Oro, Fotogramas, Cine Monde, Fiesta Deportiva, Última Hora, Daily Bulletin, Diario de Baleares, among others ...
He was a collector of old photographs and postcards, mainly from Mallorca, and portrait cameras, old techniques and daguerreotypes.
He died in Palma on 12 January 2016.
