Joan Escandell

Joan Escandell is one the Spanish comic artists with more projection and career out of our frontiers. He started in the 60’s working for the emblematic Editorial Bruguera, drawing mythical series such as Capitán Trueno or Joyas literarias and some of his own creations such as Sargento Fúria (written by Cassarel) or Astromán (written by Víctor Mora, creator of Capitán Trueno). At the end of the 70’s he started working in the European market, from these years we can highlight Antares, which he drew for fourteen years for the French public. Since then he has worked in many countries, such as Italy, USA, UK, Japan, etc. using different drawing styles and many comic book genres. He worked for famous series such as Masters of the Universe and also for Disney. In the comic book war genre he has worked the series Sargento Wam for France, Comando for the UK, and Línea de fuego for Spain. During the last twelve years of his artistic career he worked mainly for the German television, developing a whole magazine dedicated to the famous children’s TV series Bibi & Tina.
