Isa Sanz
- (Valladolid, 29/07/1973)
I like art that can be understood by everybody, art that does not need a thousand words to be understood, to be more precise, or to be felt.
When we observe a work of art, we are face to face with ourselves. It reflects what we are, what we are not, what we like and what scares us. The reaction of the viewer is part of the work, because there is not art work that does not wish to be seen.
In my art I explore my place in the world, as a woman, as a human being. I am interested in the body, nudity, impermanence, love, communion between the corporal and the intangible, the sacred, the ritual, woman, man, unity after duality, the infinite outside and inside ourselves, the connection with the Earth that holds us. I have already explored many of these ideas and others are still to be explored.
This is a 'work in progress', in continuous movement. Thank you for being here.
Critics
Your work addresses the contradiction of the stylized concepts of 'nude' and 'beauty' while underscoring animality in femininity. Your images are equally meditative (for me at least) and are about how women are taken by the rhythms of life and death and are therefore more sympathetic to the great issues that threaten humanity." - Alexis Hunter (feminist artist. UK)
"All true artists become somehow vulnerable, but Isa Sanz more than others. I appreciate the power and courage of their work." - Christopher Shillock (poet, lyricist, radical, philosopher. USA)
"Isa Sanz has explored the Open Wound in his art forms. She has strived to broaden our consciousness in a very private world that has been largely ignored, rejected, or even ridiculed throughout history. She has opened my eyes to a natural world that has no limits in our lives and in the Cosmos.". - Charles Plymell (beatnik poet. USA)
