El Niño Alcalino and The Chuskers
- Genre: Funk , Jazz , World music
El Niño Alcalino & The Chuskers is a band that explores contemporary Afro-American music in all its complexity. Their two recordings Descartes (2012) and Black Music for the New Generation (2015) are clearly reminiscent of Latin soul, funk from New Orleans, disco, acid jazz and Afrobeat, among many others style. But above all, El Niño Alcalino & The Chuskers is a live band. After five years of existence and over seventy concerts around the islands and mainland Spain, the band continues to offer a fresh, vibrant, sweaty, rhythmic repertoire, always different and full of surprises.
The band that accompanies El Niño Alcalino in his concerts are The Chuskers, a group of young and talented musicians from the island, experienced in the Majorcan musical circuit. Jordi Tugores leads The Chuskers. He was in charge of recording and producing their first record at Alchemy Records studios. He was also responsible for putting the band together, which is formed by Rubén Garcia on drums, Dani "Pi de Gènova" on bass, Guillem Nadal on trombone, Jaume Riera on keyboards, Jordi Tugores on guitar and vocals, Pep Lluís Garcia on percussion , Miquel Àngel Rigo on saxophone and Àlex Besalduch as frontman, vocals and light percussion.
With a personal style, open to large doses of improvisation, stage synergy and freedom (not in vain the musicians come from the world of jazz), the group gives free rein to El Niño Alcalino's crazy ideas. It is an intense and unusual show.
