Made up of pianists Francesc Blanco and Maria Victòria Cortès, it was formed in 1994. Since then they have performed numerous concerts as a solo duo or with orchestra accompaniment in all the Balearic Islands, Barcelona and Salzburg, winning the second prize in the Art Jove competition of the Directorate General of Youth in 1997.
As a solo duo, they have performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands (on three occasions as a solo duo), Deutsch-Französische Kammerorquester, Kammerphillarmonie Baden-Württemberg and Basler Festival Orquester performing works for two pianos and orchestra by Bach, Mozart, Saint-Saens and Bartok. The Blanco-Cortès duo has published two Compact-Discos, one for the ONA Digital label, with first world recordings of works by Tintorer, Samper, Mas Porcel and Guinovart, and the other with works for solo piano and the first world edition of F. Chopin's integral for four-handed piano for the Unión Músics label.
In 2001, they coordinated and performed the show Liliana and El Carnaval dels animales with the Basler Festival orchestra and the actress Caterina Alorda, which was seen by 5,000 students from schools in Mallorca. In the 2003-04 academic year, their production of the show Peter and the Wolf was seen by 10,000 students in Mallorca. In 2006, his production of Mozart's opera The Magic Flute reached 15,000 schoolchildren in the Balearic Islands. Other opera productions for schoolchildren include Rossini's El Barbero de Sevilla, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel.
In 2002 they performed in a concert at the Sofia Spring Festival (Bulgaria) which was recorded and broadcast live on Bulgarian national television via digital channels. In the 2002-03 season they performed in Rome and Mallorca and premiered a programme with music that combines jazz and classical (Cross Over) for two pianos and percussion. In 2004, they performed Beethoven's symphonies 1, 2, 5 and 6 in the four-handed piano version and performed at the Carniola Festival in Slovenia. In 2005 they presented Brahms' German requiem and Orff's Carmina Burana with the Capella Mallorquina, as well as Brahms' integral waltz. The reissue of his CD dedicated to the chamber and piano works of Pedro Tintorer was a candidate for the prize for the best performer of classical music in the Music Awards of the Academy of Music Arts and Sciences. Since 2004 they have performed some 30 performances of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
