Cristóbal Serra

  • (Mallorca, 1922) - (Mallorca, 2012)
  • Genre: Narrative

Among the heterodox and indescribable writers from Spanish literature of the 20th century, Cristóbal Serra occupies a most prominent position. Although admired by Pere Gimferrer, Octavio Paz, Joan Perucho or Rafael Conte, among others, this was not sufficient for him to be considered part of the officially consecrated. But this semisecret character didn’t endanger his work, which has fascinated a constant number of attentive readers. Equally fragmentary, avant-garde and Mediterranean, anti-modern and rebellious, Serra is a Catholic with a Taoist touch or a Taoist with a Christian touch. Above all he is a genuine writer bearing a tragedy and a humour which will survive his recent death in September 2012.
