Branca Santa
There have always been great artists in the Balearics, as it is known. But it is no exaggeration to say that we are before an extraordinary generation. From jazz to the singer-songwriters, and including all the sounds that can fit in this small corner of the Mediterranean, Branca Santa is another clear illustration of this stratospheric restlessness that, little by little, is consolidating in the reality of the Islands.
However, Branca Santa, more than a band, is a matrix or a map from which much of the artistic explosion that Mallorca is living and that splashes Barcelona can be explained. Musicians from different backgrounds, all unrepeatable, are finally together vibrating the same unison. In the end, a handful of longing friends were in the recording studio to celebrate the love that unites them by improvising music as if there was no tomorrow. That is, doing what they like, in total freedom and at the same time leaving a historical family photo for posterity.
With audiovisual experience always in the foreground, these improvisations have finally become enormous songs full of nuances and textures that transpire sensitivity and brutality in equal measure. Black music, white music... flavors here and there ... Thirteen musicians and a visual artist letting go, generous, united by mutual respect, embraced in the warmth of the tribe and joining together against this sick, inscreasingly individualizing, world.
