Baleàrica Ensemble is an ensemble of young musicians created within the Conservatory of Music of the Balearic Islands, which seeks to reach the highest quality and professionalism musical repertoire in a very unusual setting: the pieces for Harmoniemusik. With a flexible lineup, between eight and twelve musicians, all students of at the Conservatory, Ensemble Baleàrica aims to bring to the audience a catalog of pieces written for wind instruments. Indeed, a phenomenon little known by most of the public is the number of pieces written for wind ensembles during Classicism and Romanticism. In the transition to Classicism, ensembles that during the Renaissance and the Baroque period performed Sacred music, left the churches to perform for the less powerful oligarchy who could not afford a full orchestra for their palaces. Ensemble Baleàrica suggests a trip along this kind of music: from the usual arrangements of operas successful at the time for chamber wind ensembles, to proposals by contemporary composers who have found in the basic Harmoniemusik ensemble an extremely valid tool in their constant search for new sounds and acoustic environments.
